LES INFLUENCES

Finally.

An, Finalmente i have recieved my theme for garment one in textiles.
It is all to do with fabric enrichment with repetition and the feminine figure, Its fantastic.
Everything i think of is to emphasise the figure, I love this.
It is such a lovely thing to see womans natural curves.
Nothing like our straight skinny society.
I would love to be in the 50's with the huge dresses emphasizing the waist and hips!
I've a few images in my find.
We have just done Batik or Rozome dying and i adore it!
I had a idea about what i've talked about earlier, the galaxy.
It is a repeating pattern and i can make it with rozome.
I would use a light cotton or voile and make small wax spots of stars then use light red or purple dye the has been skattered and bled to look like star clouds then i can dye it a very dark navy or black!
Then i would embroider the stars with sequins or beads to enrich it more.
Lastly I would make it into a dress that is very plain. Round neck, sleeveless, kneelength with two pleats down the middle.
Simple but creates shape without being to tight or figure hugging!
Oh its all so grand.
Now i must document in My VD!

Velvet from the 30's

Because i'm studying Coco Chanel i've looked up 30's fashions.
This one caught my eye.
Its lovely, absolutely Lovely.
This Velvet is an amazing colour, I adore Velvet, i've just never been abel to use it in anything.
Mission this year - use velvet!
The style is lovely, looks like it would cling to a woman perfectly.
I love the sleves and the neckline.
I wish i could make this, exactly this!

Viktor & Rolf.

Not only does this duo have my second most favorite perfume (flowerbomb) under their belt, a few months ago they designed a fabulous collection. SS10
Full of tulle!
Tulle isn't really one of my favorite textures to work with but the affects these guys make are fantastic.
Where do I start?
The Pants are fantastic, I love the loose pants in those soft colours, the ones with extra embroidery look fabulous. Almost glamorous in an old fashioned way. I wish i could wear more pants, I'm thinking that would be a great garment to make.
I love the bright tulle on black. it makes a great contrast and when the tulle is in all different directions it looks fantastic.
The optical illusions of this collection are great, the lines and thickness of tulle averts your eyes in all directions.

i love everything of this collection basically, oh and the shoes! how fab are they.
I want to make little flowers on a ribbon and tie them around my ankles.

I'm thinking a black bustier (because i love anything lingerie and they are super trendy) with bright tulle patchwork on it and seed beads on the seams of the patchwork design and then some fabulous pants that are loose and lovely with swirly ribbon maybe?

"With the credit crunch and everybody cutting back, we decided to cut tulle ball gowns," Snoeren said.

The colors!

long almost transperent dresses - A la Christian Dior ss10

[00480m.jpg]
very very light greeny blue and cream with gold detail.
I adore the flow and romance feel of these dresses.

Maybe recycle old lace and curtains in cream or white and drip dye it in pale green then add something random like gold studs and appliqué?

Vena Cava SS10

I really like Vena Cava because they do fantastic twists on trends and throw some new stuff in.
Basic colors with occasional color works fab.

I think i'd actually copy or make something similar to the dress below, i adore it.

I love the use of handkerchief hem, it isn't usually this trendy.
The neckline detail and waist makes great texture in the garment.

I love how the simple Little black teeshirt dress can be reinveted over and over.
The different neckline adds detail and color. Wear only with fabulous earrings and it's terribly chic.

LBD with Chain overlay.
The texture not only shines but gives a bit of a rough look, original.

Their Golden Age perfection.

Galaxies in faraway places.

Isn't the unknown marvelous?
Images from NASA of galaxies are amazing, you can loose yourself in them.
I have had my eye on their brilliance for a little while now but only recently did I see a garment from one of my favorite oversea's labels ZARA of which I loved. The simple idea is fantastic, i'd love to make something like it.
